Q1.How do you choose a child's given name in your family?

My family considers the meaning of the stroke count and thye Chinese character, when naming a child. In Japan, we can attach our favorite reading only to names.

For example,

愛 → usually Ai → special KOKORO

It is Okay, but we have to pay attention because if we attached it diffical reading, anyone would confuse and couldn't read.

Q2. Does your given name or family name means anything?

My name and my younger brother's name mean "we love everyone and everything and we may be loved by everyone." This is my parents wishes. I can feel my parents deep love by this name. I like my name.

But I don't know about family name means....

Q7. How do you know if names are boys' name, girls' name, or both?

I guess we know boy's name, girl's name from ○○子 or ○○太,雄.
Alsoe there are typical names such as りさ、ゆき、あい、ゆうこ、なつき、ゆか、きょうこ and ゆうだい、しゅんすけ、あきら、よしひこ、ゆうたろう so on. Tere are various names.
Probably I think that I will make a judgment from old memory and experience.

My brother name is みずき.
This name seems to be both. I explained "my brother is boy" many times.

It is really nice.
The United Nations (UN) is the key organization to promote and maintain world peace. Research the UN in the library or on the Internet. If you were working for the UN, which job would like to have using your English abilities? Why?

I would like to manage NPO and NGO.
Before the donations have reached people needed truly, it would be consumed by NGO and NPO. I mean first the donations is used for transportation expenses until they go there, second they construct the too gorgeous institution for working.
They invest those donations in much expense, in order to prepare, and they save people of mere a few by the remainder of only few donations. It is not a true volunteer activity. We should build a system which divides to refugee equally the donations which we contributed and gives it.

What is CCC?

http://doraku.asahi.com/special/sf/index.html

The United States does not have a national paper like of Japan. Therefore, there are many local newspaper stuck to the area. There, although it is not a celebrity, the person who played an active part in the area is written.
In SanFrancisco there are many Japanese-American.
The life of Japanese-American and the actual circumstancescondition are written to the local newspaper.

The continuance of the Japan town is now dangerous in San Francisco. For San Francisco, the Japan town has existence value and also symbolizes uniqueness.
Many Japanese-American has got the income in the Japan town. Moreover, it is also Japanese society there. It focused in their future and uneasiness is thrown into relief.

We tend to think that the Japanese who can speak English is smart, the Japanese who lives in overseas is cool.
We have to know about their worries.

When I was in Manchester in Britain, I have heard about Japanese-British from one of my Japanese friend. They sometimes confuse about their identity. Like "Which nation am I??" "What is Japanese culuture? I don't know about that anything."
Their trouble is very deeper than our imagination. We should get to know their actual condition in more detail. And it is important to get to know the difficulty of they living overseas. We could understand more deeply each other, when we interchange with them, because we get to know.

Class #3 Buddhism

Question 1

How is your daily life affected by buddism? What do you do and why do you do it?

I think our mind are affected by buddism, for example if I do something wrong (kind of put the bad mouth on my friends), I would be punished. My grandfather told me about "因果応報"(=retribution). He said me "All these worlds are connected. Therefore, we have to do a good deed. If we do a bad thing, the reward of the bad thing will certainly come to us." This view is my favourite.

①Most Japanese do お墓参り at お盆(in Augast). Generally speaking, the spirits of ancestry come back to their home town or houses in お盆. so people do it for welcoming. It is kind of greeting.

②We keep vigil, when someone has been dead. Because on this day, his or her spirit is still there. so we have to talk all night about the deceased.

Family Life

Question A
when do children usually leave home?

I think it is depends on situation on these family. I guess most 18 years old people usually leave home in Japan. Because some of them are going to enter their University after graduation from high school.
In Hiroshima, they want to leave their family and try to live at city, particularly Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Question B
How many people live in your home?

There are six people in my family.

Question C
Do you have a head of the family?

Yes, we have. It's my mother. My mother always expresses an exact opinion. And she works like a man in society and also earns money. Moreover she lives as one women, I mean, She always cares about her appearance, and also takes in fashion little by little.
I am yearning for such mom very much, and respect her.
So we obey our mother.

Question D
Who does the housework?

Nowadays both of man and woman should do the housework. Because woman work as one of power of the society. So it is impossible only woman do the housework on their family. Both of them should help each other and live them life. Also if they do housework, they could realize how the housework is hard. Therefor they can compassion for each other.
Also sort of men has appeared who does it as housekeeper. It's one of phenomenon in today's society. the other day the word that 主夫 created a sensation.
In my case, my brother do housework. His tasks are washing bathroom and cleaning the living room. When he complained, like "why should I do this?! I'm tired. I wanna play TV games." we(my mom and i) ask him.
"imagine, we always do washing clothes, washing dishes, cooking meals, cleaning toilet and 洗面台 and garbage disposal, so on. We work(go to school) every day too. Can you do same as us??"
He understood how the housework is hard, so he don't say nothing nowadays.
So It is very important that do housework all member of family in my house.

Question E
Who runs the family?

I think that there is necessity that father run the family. Because if they(I mean couples) have children, mother must bring their children up. In my opinion, children should get love from their mother more than father. I know my philosophy is old and baseless.
